Welcome to Biker Basics
Based in Cape Town South Africa, we teach basic, intermediate and advanced level riding skills to riders of just about any kind of motorised two-wheeled vehicle available. We specialise in getting absolute beginners to enjoy riding and we strive to ensure that both competence and confidence are increased with each and every lesson. Whatever you aspire to ride,we have a program for you and look forward to seeing you in one or more of our courses soon.
Our Philosophy
We believe that learning to ride a motorcycle correctly, competently and safely is far more important than just getting you to pass the K53 motorcycle test. Safety through knowledge is what we strive to instill in every rider.
We believe that obtaining the drivers licence should be a by-product of being able to effectively control the machine you are seated astride. We believe that riding skill should be developed to ensure rider safety as a priority. Attaining your motorcycle licence we believe is just the first tentative step on the path of learning to be bike safe and road savvy.
It is the start of a new adventure on two wheels not the end of one. Your real learning starts once you attain your licence and head into traffic in earnest. We would like to help you to survive it. We believe that everyone should learn to ride like his/her life depends on it......because IT DOES!
Bike on Mountain Road
Our History
Created at the turn of the Century by avid motorcyclist and former Traffic Officer, Lloyd Castle, the goal of the Academy is to provide motorcycle rider training in the form of Basic to Advanced level handling and survival skills, of the kind employed by motorcycle police officers the world over, to the ever growing civilian motorcycle population.
The Academy opened its doors to its first civilian student rider back in 2001, prior to which these skills were exclusively taught to traffic police motorcyclists and it has now trained literally thousands of riders since. We have taught rider survival skills to riders who now enjoy motorcycling with the reduced risk that rider competence developed through proper training and practice allows.
